A Different View

Now that Hank is a year old his car seat could be turned around (he also had to be at least 22 lbs.) Today was the first day I rode with him with his car seat facing forward. It was really odd to see him facing this way. I was so used to seeing the back of his head. He also now really looks like a big boy! These photos are from this morning, on our way to meet my Mom. You can see Hank is still in his PJ's - Mom changes him later in the morning. Even without having to change him, I still manage to be late most mornings.

First Cold

Hank had his first cold this week. He started out with a runny nose and Monday night he had a lot of congestion and had a lot of trouble sleeping. We actually felt that was the worst night we ever had with him (as far as lack of sleep for us.) Friday I ended up taking him back to the Doctors (he had just been there Monday for his one year check up) because during the night he started with a cough. The Doctor said he has a virus and that the cough might be a mild croup. Now he seems to be getting better and last night slept all night in his crib - he has been sleeping with us all week. I also started with a cold during the middle of this past week. Both of my parents were sick, but are getting better too. A few weeks ago Brant was sick and finally was dx with Mono, but he has been doing a lot better the past week or two.

One Year Check Up

Hank is a healthy one year old. He had his one year check up today. He is 31 inches and 24.7 lbs. He was very squrimy on this visit and got very upset with his shots - 3 of them! Poor boy calmed himself down when Daddy took him outside. When we got home he took a ride in his new car outside and I gave him a treat of ice cream too.

Yum!

Party Time

Hank's Party was a great day. We had lots of friends and family show up to help us celebrate. Hank had lots of fun with all his presents and definitely with the cake!

Birthday Boy

On Friday, Hank's Birthday, I took the day off to spend with him. Right away he saw his Sesame Street ride-on toy we got him. He had fun playing with that. I also sang him Happy Birthday right at the time he was born, and placed a candle in an angel food cupcake for him. He really enjoyed being sang too, as well as the candle. For lunch we went to Chick-fil-a and had fries and chicken nuggets. The rest of the day we ran some errands getting things for his party on Saturday. His new Pediped shoes that I won on E-Bay also arrived in the mail. I have been busy ordering him some shoes. Now that Summer is coming to an end he can't run around barefoot anymore.

Mommy's Helper

Hank just had to get a closer look at the dirty dishes tonight. He has been standing all by himself for the past couple of days, so I know very soon he will be walking. He is also working on his fourth tooth. It is on it's way, but not through yet. His first birthday is Friday. I really can't believe it has been a whole year. It really feels like yesterday that we were leaving the house at 5 am to go to the hospital. I think this has been the fastest year of my whole life!

SONflower

Here is my son amidst all the sunflowers. All around Jarrettsville there are fields of sunflowers. Brant's Mom had Hank this afternoon and we met after work at one of the fields. Hank just woke up from a nap in Grammy's car, but right away noticed the flowers as we walked toward them. He was "talking" and pointing at them.

Let Me Out!

Got Crabs?

Brant went crabbing today so tonight we had some crabs for dinner - yummy!

Hank and I went outside to play while the crabs were steaming. While we were outside we got his motorcycle out to see how well he fits on it - he still needs to grow into it some more. When we were done with it Brant put it beside his - I thought that was funny. Of course I had to take a photo.
I am in the process of planning Hank's 1st birthday party. I can't belive it is in two weeks. Yesterday and today I worked on the invitaions. We are going to see a lot of family tomorrow so I wanted to hand out the invites then.

Enjoy the photos!

Coming to an end.

Today I used my last frozen bag of breast milk. For about the past two weeks I have not been pumping enough milk for the two bottles of milk that I send with Hank every day, so tommorrw he will have to have his first bottle of formula. I guess we did not do too bad considering he is going to be a year in two weeks and has made it this far without formula. What really helped was me staying home with him for the first three months and then being able to come home at lunch the following three months while Mom came to our house to watch Hank. Also the formula is what was sent to me free, so we did not have to buy any, which is good - it's very expensive. What I am going to use is what was sent to me free by the formula companies. When I was pregnant I thought I would probably be using formula so I requested the free samples. I even registered for formula - guess it was a good thing nobody bought me that.

Polly want a cracker?

Hank and I made a stop at Pet Smart this Sunday for kitty litter. He likes to stop and see the birds. He is such an animal lover!
